I have been traveling lately: to Las Vegas last week for a meeting, and to Houston this week for some engineering-related activity, and in between I played around with some PSK (from the truck seat, naturally) with no sucess. I was heard on 20, but lost the contact, and couldn't get any hits on 40 at all.
I got to thinking about how to comfortably work PSK, from inside, not in the truck, and maybe while traveling. So I have been working on an idea on how I may be able to accomplish that.
I already have a nice 30A power supply that I picked up on one of my trips, with the IC-7000 cable ready to go, and the XGCOMMS interface cable which makes PSK simple with DigiPan, so the only piece missing is a suitable antenna for portable operation from a motel room.
I have a plan, and with a vital piece presently on its way from MFJ Enterprises I should be able to pull this off.
WAS-PSK? I have a dream.
Stay tuned ...
I have encountered a detour in my comeback: a new truck.
I traded my 2002 Chevy S-10 antenna platform/shack for a 2008 Titan. The short term result of this is that all of the equipment: antennas, radio, etc., are in the garage waiting for when I figure out how to remount everything in a new vehicle.
The layout of the Titan is considerably different from the S-10, so this could take a while.
Discuss among yourselves. I'll be back later.
